First Grade - Mr. Wallace's Class

Welcome to our third grade classroom! I am excited to have the privilege of exploring the areas of math, science, and social studies with a wonderful group of third graders this year! As one of two classroom teachers in Room 6, I plan on providing a safe and welcoming environment for your child.

Classroom Rules:
In third grade, students are expected to make decisions and to start thinking for themselves. Our classroom rules are simple and intended to act as a guide for the students.

Our classroom rules are:
BE SAFE
BE KIND
BE RESPONSIBLE

Infractions of these rules are discussed with the students and natural consequences are used. All students are expected to follow the classroom rules.

Students are rewarded for their good conduct by becoming "Productive People" and receiving verbal acknowledgment of their good behavior. If your child comes home and says "I was a productive person today!" please congratulate them.

Mathematics:
We have adopted the Houghton Mifflin math curriculum, which provides a variety of opportunities for the student to learn and practice new skills in math. We focus on strengthening number sense and developing tactics to enhance our critical thinking. In addition, I utilize games and hands-on activities to enrich and reinforce concepts.

Science:
Our science curriculum is FOSS. This curriculum is designed to meet all California science standards in a fun, hands-on manner. They provide materials that will allow your student to experience Science first-hand. I also enjoy conducting experiments in the classroom in order to engage students' interests and leads to further exploration by the students.
