2nd Grade - Mrs. Stoker's Class

• Mrs. Stoker's Home Page • Student Artwork
Writing Samples from Second Grade • Homework / Messages & Downloads

The second grade has 18-20 students in each of the two classes. The curriculum is aligned to the California Standards. All students experience many of the subject areas within a day in both whole and small group instruction. Often the subject matter is integrated and involves many hands-on activities. This integration expands to performing work outside of the classroom. The second graders take field trips to further their understanding and connection with the community and surroundings in which they live.

The Earth Sciences--Dinosaur and Fossil Unit--is an example of integrating the curriculum. After weeks of in-class work (reading, writing, math and art activities) the students explored the Scotia Bluffs to find fossils. They discovered that the ocean once existed where they were exploring.
